The premier event in the Warrington Group’s social calendar took place at Warrington Masonic Hall where members from the group, their partners and friends thoroughly enjoyed themselves at the annual Valentine Group Ball.
After the group chairman Andy Barton and his wife Kathy, the group vice chairman Chris Gleave and his wife Hannah and the group secretary John McIntyre and his wife Pat were received into the ballroom, Andy took the opportunity to welcome everyone. He particularly welcomed all of the ladies, saying how beautiful they all looked. This brought the usual cheers from all of the gentlemen and brethren present. He then welcomed Assistant Provincial Grand Master Kevin Poynton and his wife Sue.
Prior to the meal, grace was given by Lee Marsh, who later also returned thanks. The menu consisted of smoked salmon soufflé tart with lightly dressed leaves, lamb noisettes with tarragon cream sauce, duchesse potatoes and seasonal vegetables, a heart shaped chocolate desert, a selection of cheese and biscuits followed by tea or coffee.
After a most enjoyable meal served by the hall’s excellent staff, Andy presented a bouquet of flowers to Caroline Crook in appreciation of Caroline’s and Rob’s hard work in organising the event. Andy also thanked the Masonic hall staff for providing and serving such a lovely meal.
Kevin Poynton then announced, in his very authoritative manner, pray silence for the group chairman. Andy then thanked Charles Carr the director of ceremonies, for his work and asked everyone to show their appreciation.
With the tables cleared and glasses replenished, all settled down to a wonderful evening of song and music provided by the superb entertainer, ‘Steve.’ It wasn’t long before the guests were dancing the night away. As the evening drew to a close everyone took to the dance floor to sing Auld Lang Syne.
At the end of the evening Andy thanked the guests for their support in making the evening a massive success and wished everyone a safe journey home.
