The lodge was opened by Gordon Watkinson the installing master and the normal administration duties undertaken. The principal guest, grand officers and acting Provincial grand officers were admitted in due ceremonial style.

Gordon offered a very warm welcome to Kevin and all the officers and visiting brethren and hoped everyone would have an enjoyable evening. Gordon, as a matter of procedure and as a mark of respect offered Kevin the gavel, which on this occasion he was delighted to accept and then handed it back saying he felt confident that it was already in the best hands.

Gordon asked Stephen Richards to assist him by acting as installing SW, Roy Bretherton to act as installing JW and Les Ashcroft as IG. All brethren accepted saying they were honoured to do so. The master elect, Peter, was then presented to the installing master as a candidate, to receive at his hand the benefit of installation. The presenting officer was Les Ashcroft. Peter was duly installed into the chair of King Solomon according to ancient custom with all reverence and humility.

Kevin congratulated Peter on being installed into the chair of such a fine lodge and for the second time. Kevin continued by saying he was also delighted to bring the congratulations and good wishes of the Provincial Grand Master Tony Harrison. He then passed on his personal good wishes to Peter, his officers and all the brethren, for a happy and successful year, thanking Gordon for his work on the installation ceremony.

A £500 donation had already been given to the Masonic Charitable Foundation 2021 Festival with over £100 through the white envelope scheme, and appropriate donations to Masonic Bowling Society and the Golf and Pigeon Shooting Societies.

On behalf of the recipients, Kevin thanked the brethren of the lodge for their magnificent donations totalling £1,896, commenting on the tremendous amount of money being spread across so many important beneficiaries.

Kevin commented on the quality of the installation and made specific mention of the work undertaken by the brethren regarding the presentation of the working tools, which were carried out by Sam Hill, Raffaele Alboreto and Tony Shadwell. He also commended the excellent work of the installing master Gordon, saying it was not just a ceremony but it was a performance, which he had enjoyed.

The address to the WM was delivered by Dennis Cooper, address to the wardens was provided by Roy Bretherton and the address to the brethren of the lodge was given by Kevin Poynton.

Peter was installed for the first time in this lodge in 2006. He is also a Royal Arch Chapter member and a member of some other Masonic Orders.

Grace was offered by Roy Bretherton the chaplain. 32 members and guests then enjoyed an excellent four course festive board which consisted of fan of melon with fruit coulis, roast beef with Yorkshire pudding and all the trimmings, lemon meringue pie which was followed by cheese and biscuits with coffee or tea.

The evening was brought to a close by Bill Wainwright proposing the tyler’s toast. Before the dignitaries left Kevin was presented with a bouquet of flowers, for which he duly thanked the brethren for their kindness and hospitality.
