The annual summer fair held at Eccles Masonic Hall in aid of fund raising for the ‘Residents’ Amenity Fund’ was again well attended by the ever-faithful brethren and their families.
David Dyson, Assistant Provincial Grand Master from the Province of Cheshire officially opened the summer fair and he also presented a cheque for £4,000 to Stan Bibby, the Chairman of the Association of Friends.
As it was Father’s Day not as many people turned out to the event as had been hoped for, however the funds raised on the day were £1,328, which was a sterling effort by those who supported the event.
Malcolm Warren, Vice President of the Association of Friends said: ”The committee would wish to extend its very grateful thanks to the Provinces of East and West Lancashire and the Province of Cheshire and all their respective groups / areas for the continued support and also our appreciation for their sale of our ‘Summer Fair’ tickets at their lodge and chapter meetings. These add to the funds needed to give extra support and assistance to our 50 residents at our Masonic home in Eccles.”
Malcolm continued: ”Our home manager Bev Niland and her staff, together with the home residents are also deserving of praise for the support they give to this, not just for their attendance but for the enthusiasm they bring in support of the day.” He concluded by saying: “It is always a delight to see the Assistant Provincial Grand Masters, group officials and the many Freemasons from across our three Provinces, lending their support to our charity.”
