The Elias Ashmole Chapter No 148 was honoured and delighted to receive Colin Rowling the Chairman of the St Helens and Prescott Group, as principal guest and representative of Tony Harrison Provincial Grand Superintendent. Also in attendance were Jack Forsyth and Stan Churm supported by Acting Provincial Grand Chapter Officers Alan Jones, Peter Blease and George Fletcher along with Chris Gleave, Warrington Group Vice Chairman. The chapter was opened for business by Dennis Wilding, the installing first principal, Dave Tabron the second principal and Gary Oates third principal.
The distinguished guests were received by the three principals. Dennis extended a warm welcome to all the dignitaries and visitors alike. He continued by hoping they would have an enjoyable evening.

David then duly appointed and invested his officers for the ensuing year.

The installation ceremony being completed, Colin stood to bring the greetings of the Grand Superintendent Tony Harrison, whom he said would have been delighted to witness such a ceremony and particularly the work done by Dennis, in such fine fashion. Colin went on to thank the three principals for taking office, congratulating them on their appointments. He also made reference to the excellent ceremony and congratulated Gwilym Jones as DC.
David thanked Colin for his kind words and proudly presented him with a charity donation of £750 to the 2021 Masonic Festival Fund. Colin thanked David for the generous donation saying it was a credit to all the members who had generated such a magnificent amount of money. He stated it would give him great pleasure in forwarding the donation to the Festival Fund and thanked everyone on their behalf.
Following the ceremony everyone enjoyed an excellent four course festive board which consisted of carrot and coriander soup with bread roll and butter, cod mornay, chicken supreme with chasseur sauce with cauliflower gratin, peas, parmentier potatoes and fresh fruit salad with ice cream. This was served with red or white wine and followed by tea or coffee.
Colin responded to the toast to his health by congratulating Dennis and all the officers taking part in the ceremony. He also congratulated the three new principals and the new officers and hoped they would have a productive and enjoyable year. He thanked the group officials for their support in attending and John Gregory for the work undertaken throughout the year and particularly tonight. He continued by extending his thanks to Alan Jones, Peter Blease and George Fletcher for their support in attending as acting Provincial officers.
A charity collection generated a magnificent sum of £130. Just before the janitor’s toast to close the evening, Colin was presented with a bouquet of flowers by David and a bottle of clear liquid was presented to Chris as group vice chairman. Both Colin and Chris thanked David and all the companions for their generous gifts.
