First patrons of the museum

Following the opening of the Warrington Museum of Freemasonry the first patrons have been identified and their involvement recognised by the issue of an official certificate being presented to the supporting lodges. Supporting lodges and chapters have made a financial commitment to support the museum, others are in the pipeline and a similar presentation will be made.

The first lodges to become patrons are; Lodge of Lights No 148, Lodge of Charity No 2651, Newton Lodge No 6288 and Academy Lodge No 9382.

The ‘Friends of the Museum’ initiative for individuals has been launched, with many brethren supporting the museum to enable it to become financially stable by taking up the option to become a ‘friend’, for an annual cost of £10, for any individual Mason or non-Mason alike. Normally payment would be due on the 1 March each year. To acknowledge people’s support and to help raise awareness of the museum, individuals are given a lapel badge. It is intended to list all the friends of the museum. As the development of the museum progresses it is intended to hold events related to the museum for the ‘friends’. Currently over 50 ‘friends’ have signed up pledging their support.

The aim of the museum’s trustees is to stimulate a wide public interest in the history and development of Freemasonry and to establish the Museum as an integral part of the Warrington cultural scene with a special focus on the Warrington Masonic Group and its place in the local community.
