Warrington’s Parish Church St Elphin’s saw local Freemasons dressed in full Masonic regalia, along with their families attending the annual Warrington and District Masonic Group Service of Rededication.
The Warrington Group officials Chris Gleave (vice-chairman) and John McIntyre (secretary) welcomed the Deputy Mayor of Warrington, Councillor Les Morgan, accompanied by his wife Gwen along with and including Assistant Provincial Grand Masters Kevin Poynton and Anthony Bent, Past Assistant Provincial Grand Master Dennis Rudd and many other dignitaries to the service.
This year Lodge of Great Endeavour No 3597 was invited to steward the service. A warm welcome was offered by Ray Whitticombe. The service was officiated by Rev Geoff Buchan and an inspiring and uplifting address was delivered by Rev Canon Godfrey Hirst. The first lesson was given by David Gallear and Charles Carr delivered the second lesson.
The service of rededication encourages all to reflect on their successes, trials and growth over the previous 12 months and to rededicate and focus members’ minds for the challenges and aspirations for the year ahead. A collection raised over £310 which was donated to the church.
After the service light refreshments were served at the Warrington Masonic Hall in Winmarleigh Street and everyone was cordially invited. Chris Gleave thanked all who had attended and helped to organise the service. He made a particular point of thanking the wives and families of those Masons that had attended, stressing how vital their support had been over the previous year and would be again in the ensuing year. Thanks also went to David Harding (hall manager) and his staff for their work in preparing such delicious cakes which were greatly appreciated by everyone.
