The inaugural social meeting of the Warrington Light Blues Club was enjoyed by five members who were joined by three non-Masons. They met at the home of Mathew Crawley for an excellent evening of boxing.
There was drink, food and laughs in plenty and the non-Masons proved to be very lively contributors to the event. They have already expressed an interest in Freemasonry in the future and what a great introduction for them in an informal setting.
Mathew came up with an ingenious method of raising money for charity by betting on the outcome of each of the four fights throughout the night and once the winnings had been paid out, the gathering managed to raise £50 to be donated to Mathew’s charity, which is ‘Sands’ (Stillbirth and Neonatal Death Society), a fantastic effort by all.
Glen Screeton, Chairman of the Warrington Light Blues Club, thanked all those who attended the evening saying ”It is appreciated that it is sometimes difficult for members to attend events, coupled with their existing Masonic commitments, but he was looking forward to seeing everyone at other events in the near future”.
