Lodge’s Grand Officers

 

TEN members of St Oswald Lodge have been honoured by appointment to Grand Rank.

The latest members to receive Grand Rank was WBro Derek Hunt who was invested as a Past Assistant Grand Director of Ceremonies by the Grand Master, the Duke of Kent. A former newspaper editor, WBro Hunt served the group as press officer before being appointed as editor of the West Lancashire Freemason magazine and the West Lancashire Provincial Website. He was later appointed at the Provinces Publicity Officer. He was initiated into the Lodge in 1969 and was WM in 1982.

Two of our founders, WBro William Hodgkinson and WBro Daniel Eugene Watson, held the rank of Past Assistant Grand Director of Ceremonies.

Another founder, the Rt Rev Herbert Gresford Jones, was appointed Grand Chaplain of England just two years after he completed his year as Worshipful Master.

WBro the Rt Hon Edward Baron Daresbury held the acting rank of Senior Grand Warden for two years. He went on to become Provincial Grand Master of North Munster.

WBro Nathaniel James Morris who was a founder of the lodge but only became Worshipful Master in 1956 was appointed as a Past Grand Standard Bearer in 1963.

Our next member to obtain Grand Rank was WBro Arthur Osborne who first became a Past Assistant Grand Director of Ceremonies and was subsequently promoted to Past Junior Grand Deacon and five years later to the high rank of Past Senior Grand Deacon.

WBro William Henry Cartwright, who was Initiated into St Oswald Lodge, and then became a member of Academy Lodge was honoured with the rank of Past Assistant Grand Director of Ceremonies.

WBro Kenneth Wilfred Foulkes was made a Past Grand Standard Bearer in 1987 and then promoted to the rank of Past Assistant Grand Director of Ceremonies in 2002.

WBro Alan Clifford Griffiths was appointed Past Assistant Grand Director of Ceremonies in 1990.
